Gardaí and NSPCA investigate alleged burning of dog in Ballymun after remains discovered
The NSPCA said the case is one of the “most distressing” its inspectors have ever encountered.

GARDAÍ HAVE SAID that they are investigating a report of alleged animal cruelty that took place in a public area in Ballymun, Dublin.
It comes as the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) Animal Rescue has said that its inspectors last Thursday responded to reports related to “the remains of a dog that had been severely burnt in Ballymun”.
In a social media post, the NSPCA said that inspectors did everything possible to identify the animal “including scanning for a microchip”.
“Tragically, the remains were so badly damaged that identification was not possible. Inspectors also discovered what appeared to be a stick or pole lodged in the dog’s body”, the post further said.
The NSPCA added that the case is one of the “most distressing” its staff has encountered.
“No animal should ever suffer or be treated in this way,” it added.
The NSPCA said that they are appealing for anyone with information related to the alleged incident to email inspector@nspca.ie.
A garda spokesperson said that investigations are at an initial stage and ongoing.
